II. Works on James
The major work on James is Ralph Barton Perry’s The Thought and Character of William James (Boston: Little, Brown, 1935). This two-volume work was later abridged and published by Harvard University Press; the abridged edition is available in paperback as a Harper Torchbook. The essay presenting James’s thought in the present volume owes much to Perry’s excellent work.
