“Orpheus in America”
LANDER MACCLINTOCK was introduced to Offenbach at an early age by appearing as a page boy in a production of The Tales of Hoffman. In later life, as a student of French drama and music, he became well acquainted with the theatres and concert halls of Paris, attending many Offenbach operettas; and as an amateur pianist and singer he has rendered Offenbach’s music in his own home. He is Professor of French and Italian at Indiana University and author of The Age of Pirandello, Contemporary Drama of Italy, and other works.
